What the Holy Bible and what we know about its authenticity .
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish anything from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (Deuteronomy 4:2)
And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God [the Ten Commandments], and on them was written according to all the words which the LORD spoke with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly. (Deuteronomy 9:10)
The hidden things of the LORD our God are uncovered unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy 29:29)
Thy spoken word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11)
The grass withers, the open flower fades; but the word of our God shall stand for ever. (Isaiah 40:8)
I am the LORD. This is my name, and my glory I will not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Behold, the former things are come to pass [prophecies in Scripture were and are being fulfilled perfectly], and I declare new things: before they spring forth I tell you of them. (Isaiah 42:8-9)
Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is no one like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executes my counsel from a far country; I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it; I will also do it. (Isaiah 46:9-11)
For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, that having received from us the word to hear from God, ye received it not as the word of men, (but as it is in truth) the word of God, which effectually works in you that believe. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)
All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16)
Of which saving health [salvation] the prophets, (who prophesied of the grace that was to come in you) have enquired and searched diligently; searching when and in what point of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, which announced beforehand the afflictions that were to come upon the Christ, and the glory that should follow them. (1 Peter 1:10-11)
Understanding this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy did not come in times past by the will of man, but the holy men of God spoke being inspired by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21)
Surprised by Faith examines the staggering evidence for the validity of the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. God provided significantly more evidence for the Bible being true than is required as proof in any court setting today. Only by ignoring the overwhelming evidence can anyone try to pretend that God doesn’t exist or that the Bible isn’t true.
